RENT OVERCHARGES UNDER THE JUNE ACT ADDRESSED BY COURT OF APPEALS


While we were in the beginning throes of the health crisis and tenants began to wonder how they will pay their rent, a reminder that 2 weeks ago, the New York Court of Appeals struck down the retroactive application of the rent overcharge provisions of the June 2019 Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act on constitutional grounds.
