MORTGAGE FORCLOSURE

Yesterday, I had the honor of being one of the attorneys available for consultation at the free mortgage foreclosure clinic sponsored by the Nassau County Bar Association. It appears from the people I consulted with that it is not just the economy and job loss that leaves many homeowners in a position where they may face foreclosure, but excessive financing and refinancing during the "boom" years and now the mortgage is higher than the home value. In any event, if you are served in any fashion with foreclosure papers, even if it was served improperly, go to a lawyer right away.
